How Asphalt Paving Eagan Works
Asphalt Paving Eagan builds and maintains blacktop driveways, private roads and small commercial lots in Eagan and the nearby south-metro suburbs of Dakota, Scott, Hennepin and Washington counties. The work runs from full tear-out and repaving to overlays, sealcoating, patching, crack sealing and parking lot striping.
In this part of Minnesota the weather decides how long pavement lasts. Frost works into the ground every winter, and when it lets go in spring the gravel base is at its weakest. MnDOT's own research on spring load limits describes thawing pavement layers as saturated and weakened, with water trapped above ground that is still frozen. A driveway built on a thin or poorly drained base shows that damage first: heaves, soft spots, cracks that open wider each year. So every estimate starts with the ground and the water, not with the asphalt.
What happens at the estimate
We measure the area, look at where water runs and where it sits, probe any soft or settled spots, and check the edges and the transition to the garage slab and the street. In Eagan we also look at the approach: the city's code caps a residential driveway at 22 feet wide where it meets the right-of-way, and new curb cuts go through the city. If your project touches any of that, we say so up front.
What the written quote shows
- Removal and haul-away, if the old surface is coming out
- Base repairs and the depth of compacted gravel under the new mat
- Compacted asphalt thickness for each area
- Edges, transitions and drainage work
- Sealcoating, crack sealing or striping, priced as separate lines
Work is scheduled once you approve the quote. If something changes after the old pavement is up, such as a pocket of wet clay or buried debris, we show you and put the change in writing before doing it.
